Box of Thanks

Maple and walnut

This trinket box was made for my wife's Aunt whose family farm in Iowa provide much of the black walnut, cherry and oak I use in my furniture. These trinket boxes could be enlarged to be a chest or blanket box.

Mountain Mirror

Cherry

After accidentally breaking a 3ft mirror, the resulting three mountain-like pieces were framed out in one inch thick cherry to create a set of three individual mirrors which together resemble the mountains.

Antler Chandeliers

Scottish Stag Antlers

After having seen antler chandeliers while on a skiing vacation to Breckenridge, I decided to create my own version using red deer antlers sourced from the Scottish Highlands near my family home. I used 50-year old lawn bowling balls made of lignum vitae (ironwood) as the chandeliers' centerpieces.  The examples shown are 6 and 8 branch chandeliers.

Wine Tree

Red Elm

Who knew bottled wine could grow on trees, if only. I will give my wife the credit for this idea.  Made from a 1.5" slab of red elm it is free standing and can hold 15 bottles. The live edge of the slab has been kept and the base is dove tailed to the upright.
